construction completion of the world's first 10,000-ton semi-submersible oil storage platform

on october 29, the world's first semi-submersible oil platform independently constructed by our country was completed in yantai, shandong province. it will be used to develop our first 1500-meter deep-water self-operated large gas field - lingshui 17-2 project, which symbolizes our country has stepped on a new stage for deep-water oil and gas field development ability and the deep-water ocean engineering equipment construction level, and is of great significance for improving our marine resources development ability, ensuring national energy security and supporting marine power strategy.
lingshui 17-2 gas field semi-submersible oil storage platform has the functions of condensate gas storage and external transport at the same time, with the maximum oil storage capacity of nearly 20,000 cubic meters. it is divided into two parts: the lower hull and the upper module.
lingshui 17-2 gas field semi-submersible oil storage platform adopts a different bottom-closing method from the traditional offshore structure. the operating weight is close to the rated load of the lifting equipment, which puts forward higher requirements for the positioning accuracy of the hull, the carrying capacity of the dock, on-site operation control and equipment performance.
previously, the hull and upper module construction of lingshui 17-2 gas field semi-submersible oil storage platform have been completed in cooec qingdao site on september 28 and october 12 respectively. the operation combined the lower hull part with 33,000 tons weight and 20-floor building height and the upper module with 20,000 tons weight and nearly 200 sets of key oil and gas processing equipment into one. the total weight after combination is 53,000 tons, equivalent to the eiffel tower. the successful completion of the grand closing operation marks a new breakthrough of cooec in the offshore oil project in terms of the overall construction technology and epci contracting capacity of the deep-water semi-submersible floating platform.
it is understood that, lingshui 17-2 gas field semi-submersible oil storage platform will leave for the western south china sea for offshore installation in mid-january 2021, after the equipment installation and commissioning are completed. the gas field will rely on the main artery of the natural gas pipeline network to provide stable gas supply to guangdong, hong kong, hainan and other places every year, which can meet a quarter of the people's livelihood gas demand of the greater bay area.
