on march 17, the mechanical completion of no. 4 storage tank and supporting facilities of the tianjin lng phase ii project of the national pipeline network contracted by cooec marked the full completion of the first domestic largest diameter storage tank built by cnooc’s own technology.
the tianjin lng phase ii project is not only a key national natural gas infrastructure interconnection project but also a key project in tianjin. six 220,000 m3 storage tanks and supporting processes and utilities are included in the project. after commissioning, the lng processing capacity is 12 million tons/year, which can effectively alleviate the shortage of natural gas supply in north china in winter, with the great enhancement of the supply guarantee capacity.
the outer diameter up to 93 meters of the storage tank of tianjin lng phase ii project is the largest storage tank project in china at present. due to the special geological conditions of the project, the wide and fat design scheme was innovatively adopted by the project team to significantly improve the seismic performance of the super-large storage tank. for the new challenges of large diameter on structural strength and durability design, a number of cnooc’s independent core technologies were adopted by the project to provide a reliable guarantee for the intrinsic safety of the storage tank throughout its life cycle from construction to operation.
the intelligent construction site and building information model (bim) information technology means were fully used by the project to formulate the implementation strategy of partition isolation and production, subdivide the production area and optimize the division of subsystems, with the adoption of methods including sample gas commissioning, quick inspection after completion and simulation, etc.. finally, the preparation for commissioning of storage tanks in only half a month was completed, with the decrease of the construction period of more than 10 days and the achievement of safe working hours of over 10 million.
up to now, the general contracting of 35 lng storage tanks and receiving stations has been led by cooec, with a scale of more than 33 million tons/year and a market share of nearly 50%.
