it was learned on may 9 that china classification society (ccs) granted offshore oil engineering co., ltd (hereinafter referred to as cooec) the certificate of approval-in-principle (aip) of tower yoke single-point tower mooring system. this indicates that cooec has acquired the ability to design the prototypes of tower yoke single-point mooring systems, its design results have been approbated by ccs, and it has made a significant breakthrough in eliminating bottlenecks in the area of key technologies.
the research project 鈥淜ey technologies for the design of tower yoke single-point mooring system鈥?was initiated in january 2020. for this project, cooec has completed the general layout plan, mooring system design and structural design, developed a number of key technologies and a complete set of design documents, and obtained six patents.
this research project aims at the application of single-point mooring systems in floating production, storage and unloading units (fpso) in shallow waters. tower yoke single-point mooring system fpso is a typical mode for oilfield development in the bohai sea, which has promising prospects for wide application. during the execution of this research project, cooec overcame many technical challenges in mooring system analysis and sizing, analysis of shallow water effects, rigid arm structural strength and fatigue analysis, core device design, single-point system integration, etc.. the research achievements in respect of the overall system have reached the world-leading level.
