on june 22, "offshore oil 201", a vessel under cooec, completed the laying of a 20-inch undersea long-distance pipeline, a key control project in the second phase of the ultra-deepwater gas field "deep-sea no. 1". this is china's longest deepwater oil and gas pipeline.
the second phase of the "deep-sea no. 1" project is china's first deep-water high-pressure gas field. the project applied a combination of "a 114-kilometer deep-water large-diameter seamless steel pipe and a 1.5-kilometer deep-water bimetal composite pipe" .the undersea pipeline is designed to withstand a pressure of up to 38.8 megapascals, capable of transporting oil and gas streams at a high temperature of 120 degrees celsius, and has a maximum wall thickness reaching 38 millimeters, setting a new record for the wall thickness of undersea pipes in china.
the cooec project team successfully solved world-class technical difficulties in undersea pipeline engineering, such as super-long and super-high suspension spans. they developed the first domestic large-diameter, large wall thickness undersea pipe automatic welding equipment process, achieving over ten technological breakthroughs and setting a new domestic record in construction of undersea pipeline laying at a single-day speed of 2.65 kilometers for a 20-inch deepwater pipe.
it is understood that cooec has built a fleet of pipe-laying vessels represented by "offshore oil 201", the first 3,000-meter class deep-water pipe-laying crane vessel in asia. they have independently mastered a series of core key technologies, including the design of undersea oil and gas pipelines under harsh sea conditions and complex terrains, efficient installation, emergency handling, and maintenance. the operating capacity has spanned from shallow water, deep water to ultra-deep water, achieving full coverage of mainstream undersea pipeline types, including single-layer, double-layer, counterweight, parent-child pipe, steel hanging chain riser, and more.
